Potatoes, let me upgrade ya

Hey yall!! I wanted to share a quick tip to taking your mash potatoes to the next level. First off let me just say that I love potatoes, fried, baked, mashed, any way they come! They are normally a staple to every dinner. Mikey and I have been doing our mashed potatoes different ways for a while now. We still enjoy the original way of making them from time to time but this is what we do to upgrade them and add a little more nutrition.

Combine sweet potatoes with your regular potatoes. Boil them up together and continue making them the original way you would your regular mash potatoes. It is a delicious combination.

Another combination that we do is carrots and potatoes. Boil the carrots some before you throw in your regular potatoes because they take a lil more time to soften. We sometimes throw in diced up onions into the boiling pot. Mash them up and add a lil garlic salt to it and of course your regular amount of butter and milk. I'm telling you it is sooooo good!

Another added benefit...

It adds more color to your plate!:)

Hope you all have a great rest of the week, and enjoy trying out different combinations of mashed potatoes!

Restaurant Spotlight!!

What do you want for dinner??? Common question of the day, well it is for me. I start thinking about what I'm going to eat for dinner after I finish lunch! Yes yes I Love my food, if you haven't realized this by now. Normally if I eat something heavy for lunch I like to go with something light for dinner, and vice versa. One thing that I crave pretty much 24 7 is fresh veggies. I am not even joking, I LOVE my veggies! Good job Mom! So what place for dinner has an amazing variety of fresh veggies?? Big Chow Grill! Not only does it have this, but it has everything I love wrapped into a perfect meal that I CREATE!!

The best thing about this place is that you can be the chef of your dish. They have a bar lined up of every possible veggie that you would want to put in a stir fry. Whether you want white rice, brown rice, or noodles they have it all. Then they have tons of different sauces to add to your base of veggies and noodles. You then grab another bowl and pick out the raw meats that you want and then they have so many different spices of your choice to add to that. You then hand both bowls to the cooks, they stir fry it up and bring it out to your table!

My favorites stir fried up into one heavenly meal! Mmmmmmmm

Located at the Cobb Galleria, and locally owned and operated. Call up your friends and grab Lunch or Dinner there asap!!

Better than Coffee

I do like to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee every once and a while. What I do not like about coffee though is the jittery feeling that I get after drinking. This is the reason that I am not your typical a.m. coffee drinker. I have found something else that I have started becoming an a.m. drinker of, Teavana!

I stumbled upon this gourmet tea store 2 weekends ago at the mall. They were sampling teas and I liked what I tasted and saw. I have always enjoyed my occasional herbal tea, my favorite flavor was the orange spice. This little nook of tea heaven I could get lost in. I loved reading all the nutrition facts, and the different mixes that they have. They can custom make the mix you want. I got two different mixes combined together to form my morning tea. I did the samurai chai mate, and white Ayurvedic chai tea. Mate teas work as an appetite suppressant and they contain the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee without giving you the side effects. White teas are full of antioxidants and help build up your immune system. There are so many great benefits of drinking herbal tea, that I do not have the time to write about all of them. What does coffee do for you......hmmm jitters, stomach problems, and addiction. It's a no brainer, I love the flavor of the tea so its a win win for me!!!!

The Real Deal

I got a bag of the German rock sugar to sweeten it. Since its a loose tea you need a strainer like the one in front. It's a basic one, they have all different types. I just place it into my cup of hot water to steep. The container in the back keeps the tea fresh and once it's empty you can take it back to the store and reuse it, pretty cool.

I love my new tea, below is their website if you want to check it out some more!

Feburary Snack Spotlight!

Hello Hello Hello!!! I noticed my last post was during our snowed in days. Well it has all defrosted and I have been busy back at work. Maybe not busy at work, but busy being back at work! Anyways I wanted to feature 2 new snacks that I have stumbled upon. My dear coworker Charity who I share an office with brought these in the other day. Since then I have been HOOKED!!!! Check them out below!

You can get these at Kroger. They have an awesome organic section that
I truly could get lost in.

Bear Naked Trail mix. I like the Pecan apple flax one. The whole grain flax
granola clusters are so yummy. It has a sweet, salty, crunchy, wholesome flavor.
Yes I am going to say Wholesome is a flavor! lol

Terra exotic vegetable chips. I like the Mediterranean flavored one. Garlic, Oregano,
and Olive Oil with a hint of lemon are what flavors the chips. Other than
being extremely delicious the best thing about it is that it is dehydrated
root veggies so it feels you up more than potato chips. Mmmmmmm

I'm sure you can find these other places than kroger but if you don't
have time to figure out where else, RUN to your nearest
Kroger! AHHHHHHH HURRY!!!!;)
